FIX: Apps Crashing in iOS 5

iOS 5 Banner

Many people noticed that their apps from the App Store were crashing after they updated to iOS 5 . The cause was a sandboxing issue that affected people who updated to iOS 5, instead of restoring.

The issue stopped for most people when they installed a new app, or deleted an existing one. For others, the crashing persisted no matter what they did to their iPhone.

Unfortunately, if installing a new app does not fix the issue, a clean restore (without a backup) seems to be the only way to entirely stop the crashing. To do this, simply connect your device to a computer with iTunes installed and click Restore under the devices section. If you wish to restore your device without updating it to the latest firmware, shift-click Restore and select the firmware file you want. A guide on how to download iOS firmware can be found here. When setting up your iPhone, make sure to select Set up as new iPhone to set it up without restoring from a backup. Make sure to not restore from a backup made on iOS 4.
